Tips for using the brake pad
When the pad is up, the easiest way to lower it is by pressing down on one of the top edges with your heel: the technique improves with practice. It’s also good to anticipate: lowering the brake is easier on flat ground than in the middle of a downhill.
You can adjust how high the brake pad rises by changing the length of the bungee cord. If you don’t need to kick much yourself, a longer bungee keeps the brake pad closer to your feet and easier to press down quickly. If you kick more than you brake, a shorter bungee lifts the pad higher out of the way.
