V.I.P Max Protect Bootie rubber booties with anti-slip surface: grip and durability for bare ground training, trips, or everyday use.

NOTE. This product has been discontinued. It has been replaced by the same bootie with a non-stretch hook-and-loop fastener. You can find a batch of it in our store under the name V.I.P Max Protect STATIC.

Updated anti-slip coated model of the popular V.I.P Rubber bootie (previously sold as Dragråttan VIP rubber booties and Barmark Rubber). These booties are made from flexible cut-resistant fabric with a durable anti-slip rubber coating on top for maximum grip. V.I.P rubber booties are designed for bare ground and offer up to 10x better grip compared to traditional fabric booties.

V.I.P Max Protect Rubber booties feature a wide and flexible hook-and-loop closure like the V.I.P Universal booties. The material isn’t quite as flexible as uncoated fabric due to the rubber coating, but it lasts and holds much better.

  • Sold in packs of 4
  • Because of the rubber coating, they don’t get wet easily, making them ideal for dogs with paw pad wounds, nail injuries, paw bandages, or furunculosis.
  • Due to excellent grip, also suitable for working dogs or dogs afraid of slippery floors.
  • A very popular bootie for sled dogs' bare ground training: more durable than fabric booties
  • Specifically designed for bare ground: sand, gravel, asphalt, etc.
  • Fairly narrow and tall in shape. Best suited for long-legged breeds.
  • NOTE: If you notice the end of the hook-and-loop fastener becoming fuzzy or frayed during use, it's best to cut a new clean edge immediately and seal the end by melting it.

Surface material

The surface material of the rubber booties is flexible rubber. Due to manufacturing techniques, the rubber coating on the bootie may have some irregularities in places (e.g., small pinhole-like spots or other unevenness). The soft surface rubber also wears with use: for example, gravel, sharp ice, sticks, etc. can cause wrinkles on the surface. These do not prevent the bootie from being used: the bootie's lifespan can be extended by turning the more worn side to the top of the paw. Lightweight so-called sled dog booties are always consumable items, so we recommend also having spare booties ready.

The method of applying the rubber coating shrinks the bootie, so booties from the factory may not be exactly the same size. Size differences can be evened out by stretching smaller booties to their full length.

The antislip rubber surface provides excellent grip on bare ground. If you are specifically looking for a rubber-coated bootie suitable for winter conditions, check out the fiberglass-rubber coated Non-stop dogwear Protector Bootie booties.

Determining the size of the V.I.P Max Protect rubber bootie

Measure the circumference of your dog's paw at its widest point while the dog is standing (so the paw is bearing weight). Divide this measurement by two and compare it to the bootie's width. In borderline cases, choose a bootie that is rather too loose than too tight (the dog's paw needs room to expand when stepping). If your dog has a significant size difference between front and back paws, it is advisable to get two sets of different sizes.

Size and color code update 2024

The manufacturer updated the model and sizes in 2024. The manufacturer introduced a new intermediate size S between the former XS size (pink trim) and S/M size (red). At the same time, the XS size color code changed from pink to white. The old S/M size is now best matched by size M (both with red trims).

All new booties have a squarer shape at the tip than the previous ones, and there may also be a difference in width towards the larger side.
